School is out and summer vacation is in full swing! There are many things to do with your kids this summer to keep them active, creative, and involved with the family. Although the list of things to do may seem endless, we picked out some of the best summer activities in Kenosha for kids and families. We included indoor activities for rainy days too!

Summer Outdoor Activities For Kids In Kenosha

Kenosha is filled with fun places to explore and new things to learn about as a family. These activities are a perfect way to enjoy the summer sunshine while also spending quality family time together.

Take a Trip to the Beach

Kenosha has five different beaches along Lake Michigan – and all have free admission and parking! These main beaches include:

Beyond the main beaches, there are also plenty of other inland lake beaches in the city of Kenosha to visit with your family, such as Lake Andrea. Beach days are a must in the summer, and thankfully Kenosha’s spot on the lake gives you plenty of options. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Go to the Park

Kenosha’s Parks Department offers over 1,500 acres of managed recreational land. Parks in Kenosha offer playgrounds, trails, and many grassy areas to keep you busy on those sunny days. In addition to the parks with beaches that we mentioned before, we also recommend Petrifying Springs Park (known in Kenosha as “Pets”).

Catch a Kenosha Kingfish Game at Simmons Field

You don’t have to travel to Chicago or Milwaukee for a baseball game! The Kenosha Kingfish are part of the Northwoods League in collegiate baseball. Complete with the best ballpark food, Elvis (the team’s mascot, not the singer), and fun promotions, a Kingfish game is the perfect afternoon or evening activity. On some nights, there are fireworks and cool stunts, like the human cannonball!

Ride the Electric Streetcar

Commonly referred to as “the trolley” by Kenoshans, the Electric Streetcar travels a 2-mile loop in downtown Kenosha. In the early 1900s, travel by streetcar was common in Kenosha, and this experience is a nod to that history.

The streetcar is wheelchair accessible with stops at the Kenosha Transit Center, 8th Ave. and 54th St., and the METRA train station. It’s a fun, unique experience for kids and adults alike!

Summer Indoor Activities For Kids In Kenosha

The weather in Kenosha can change quickly, but don’t worry! On rainy or chilly days, these are awesome indoor activities around the city of Kenosha that the entire family will enjoy.

Dinosaur Discovery Museum

Unlike any other museum, Dinosaur Discovery is the only museum to focus exclusively on the link between modern birds and meat-eating dinosaurs. The museum features life-scale models of over 20 different meat-eating dinosaurs – including the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex. There are plenty of ways for your kids to learn all about dinosaurs in fun and immersive ways at Dinosaur Discovery!

Alpaca Art

Paint your own pottery at Alpaca Art. Kids and adults alike can paint bowls, figurines, plates, and more, creating their own custom pieces of pottery. It’s a great way to spend a rainy afternoon and flex your creative muscles!

Mars Cheese Castle

Have lunch at Kenosha’s iconic Mars Cheese Castle. It’s a spot for shopping, sandwiches, and of course, cheese! The outside really looks like a castle, so it’s a great place to take fun pictures too.

Sandy’s Popper

With outdoor and indoor seating, Sandy’s Popper offers fun treats like gourmet popcorn, Cedar Crest ice cream, and more. It’s perfect for a sweet treat after a day at the beach!

There are so many fun ways to spend time with your family this summer right here in the city of Kenosha! For even more fun, Cornerstone Academy offers summer programs for school-age kids too. We can’t wait to hear all about your summer!
