As the weather gets colder, it gets more and more difficult to get your kids out of the house and spending time outside. This is especially true in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where it can be easy to become stir-crazy thanks to the frigid temperatures making you want to hole up indoors.

But just because you need to bundle up, doesn’t mean there isn’t a world of opportunity still available to you! In order to keep those little minds engaged and their bodies moving (as well as yours), we’ve compiled a list of some fun and family-friendly winter activities in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Winter Activities in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Ice Skate at Memorial Park

Every year, Veteran’s Memorial Park (located along the shores of Kenosha) transforms into an ice rink measuring a whopping 32 feet by 60 feet! It’s a great way to get kids outdoors and enjoying some brisk winter air. Weather permitting, ice skating is open seven days a week from 10 am to 10 pm. It’s not only completely FREE to skate, but you can also bring your own skates or rent some for no cost during rental hours. They’re available in children and adult sizes, with rental hours being 4 pm to 9 pm Monday through Friday, 10 am to 9 pm on Saturdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays. So go grab your family, lace up your skates, and have some fun!

Enjoy Outdoor Activities at Wilmot Mountain

Wilmot Mountain is officially open for the season, and they’ve got lots of different winter activities to enjoy. One of the most popular things they offer is tubing—and with over 22 lanes measuring 1,000 feet long, plus a converter belt that will bring you and your provided-for tube to the top, you’re in for a treat!

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Wilmot also offers plenty of sledding, skiing, and snowboarding hills. If you don’t know how to ski or snowboard and are feeling ambitious, sign up for some ski or snowboard lessons on the bunny hill and take on a new hobby with your kids. (Check out their packing list to see what you’ll need for an afternoon spent on the slopes.) Afterward, if you’re hungry (as you will probably be after a day of fun), grab some delicious food from one of their various concessions.

Snowshoe at Bristol Woods Park

Bristol Woods Park transforms into a snowy haven during the winter months, and what better way to experience it than by strapping on a pair of snowshoes! It’s the perfect opportunity to get the whole family outside and active in Wisconsin’s winter weather.

Don’t have snowshoes? Don’t worry—Pringle Nature Center has you covered with their $6 snowshoe rentals. Their rentals are available on a walk-in basis whenever they’re open, which is Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 4 pm, and Sundays, 12 pm to 4 pm. However, if you’re part of their membership program, Friends of Pringle, then snowshoe rentals are free!
